Practice Changes

Disassociation from MDVIP

After careful consideration and feedback from many of you, we have made the decision to discontinue our partnership with MDVIP. As many of you know, we sought to make changes to our practice due to escalating administrative work and hurdles to reimbursement imposed by insurance companies. We had also hoped to achieve a better work-life balance for both Dr. Kate and Dr Paul.  In maintaining the traditional model of primary care, we will continue to face these challenges.  To ensure the continued viability of our small practice, we must implement a few key changes. We understand these may not be suitable for everyone, and we want to provide transparency around the adjustments we are making.

Billing and Payment Procedures

The costs associated with mailing paper statements have risen significantly. Going forward, we will be utilizing electronic billing only. We will require all patients to provide a credit card for automatic payment, which will be processed 30 days after your electronic statement is sent. Card will be kept on file for one year and you will be asked to update annually. As always, if you are experiencing financial issues, we can accommodate by making a payment plan.

Lab Services

We are pleased to announce that blood draws will be available again at our office on select days. If you have previously encountered any difficulties with our in-office blood draw process, please inform us, and we will be happy to coordinate your lab orders with an external facility (such as Elmhurst Hospital or Labcorp), as we have been doing over the past few months.

Medicare and Medicare Advantage Patients

For Medicare and Medicare Advantage patients who wish to continue receiving care at Baubly Medical, participation in a new Medicare program called Advanced Primary Care Management will be required. This program provides additional financial resources for primary care providers to manage tasks between visits, such as prescription refills and coordination with other specialists. The program is a covered Medicare benefit, subject to the annual Medicare deductible. While we have always offered many of the services covered by this program, the additional financial support ensures we can continue delivering comprehensive care. Click the link below to learn more.

If you are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan, please review your financial responsibility for the Advanced Primary Care Management program, as this will be required for all Medicare Advantage patients as well. While this program is typically covered, some Advantage Plans increase patient’s financial responsibility for such programs.  Please contact your Medicare Advantage plan to discuss coverage for this program.  The Advantage plan may request a code, which is G0447.

Office Behavior Policy

Most of our patients are kind, respectful, and a pleasure to work with. However, since the pandemic, all medical facilities have unfortunately noticed a rise in aggressive or rude behavior. Please remember that our doctors and staff work tirelessly to provide quality care to all our patients. While we occasionally experience delays or make minor errors, we kindly ask for your patience and understanding. Our office has a strict zero-tolerance policy for any aggressive or inappropriate behavior.
